childhood:

Parenting is a highly creative yet stressful and challenging task, requiring much support for the adults involved. Unfortunately, our parents could never be there for us 100% of the time and may have even acted out their own troubles upon us. As a result, we may grow up feeling inadequate in some way and may even blame ourselves for our parent's behaviour towards us. Similarly, we may defend our parents and pretend we had the perfect childhood. This sets up a pattern of recreating our parents lives in our own lives by the modelling they gave us. We may try our hardest to be the opposite of our parents, only to end up in a very similar predicament. The process is profoundly unconscious until we expose these ideas and begin working through them.
